I believe GTS highway opens end of June, so if that's something you want to do
(...and it's definitely worth doing), then you should go after that.
So some time between the end of June and the end of August, but of course that's peak tourist season, so be advised.

Going to the Sun Road is one of the best, but it is likely still closed and you need to get an advanced permit.
