4-Star Point Guard Elijah Crawford Commits to BYU

X: @elijah1crawford

BYU added another piece to its roster as 4-star 2024 point guard Elijah Crawford announced his commitment to BYU. Sources tell me that Kansas and Florida both offered scholarships and made heavy pushes to Elijah to visit before the start of the 5/22 dead period, but Elijah declined and only visited BYU.

A 6-foot-1 point guard, Crawford signed with Stanford back in November as part of the 2023 class. Crawford is rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and 247’s composite rankings. He is the 7th-highest rated commitment in program history according to 247’s composite rankings. In addition to Stanford and the recent offers from Kansas and Florida, Crawford also had offers from Ole Miss, LSU, Georgia, SMU, South Carolina, UCF, Mississippi State, Xavier, and others before originally committing to Stanford.

BYU assistant Brandon Dunson was the main driver in gaining Crawford’s commitment. Dunson was Crawford’s main recruiter at Stanford and has developed a very close relationship with Crawford. Dunson was on Crawford as soon as he was released from his NLI and was able to get the only visit that Crawford took.

Crawford will compete for minutes right away in year one. He is a true point that is a great distributor, but also has the shooting and driving ability to be an effective scorer early in his career. I anticipate him competing for minutes right away as the primary backup point guard behind Dallin Hall, but he could also be in the mix to play alongside Dallin Hall in the backcourt.

You can watch highlights of Crawford below.
