BYU basketball scrimmaged in its annual “Cougar Tipoff” on Wednesday, with the “blue team” beating the “white team,” 83-79. Senior team captain Tyler Haws was the star of the show, scoring 35 points on 11-for-15 shooting while going 4-of-4 from beyond the three-point line.

Several new additions to the Cougar squad also shone, including Chase Fischer and Kyle Davis, who each added 16 points. Fischer, a 2013 transfer from Wake Forest, will make his Cougar debut this season after sitting out a year per NCAA transfer rules. Davis will be forced to sit out this upcoming season after making the transfer from Utah State.

Injured players Kyle Collinsworth (knee), Nate Austin (back) and Jamal Aytes (ankle) did not play. Senior forward Josh Sharp exited the game in the second half with a left shoulder injury after colliding with a cameraman along the baseline.

The Cougars will host the Colorado School of Mines Saturday, Nov. 1, at 7:00 p.m. as they tipoff exhibition play.
