So long, No. 1 seed: BYU upsets Gonzaga 73-70

The Cougars took down the Zags tonight and may have played their way into the tournament...

A few quick thoughts from tonight's upset loss to BYU...

- Gonzaga hasn't strung together a full 40 minutes of quality basketball in weeks and tonight it finally caught up with them.  BYU flew around early and the Bulldogs were unable to defend or make enough plays to overtake the Cougars.  It was a wire to wire performance for BYU as they never trailed.

- It was a senior night to forget for Kevin Pangos and Gary Bell.  The two combined to go 4-16 from the floor and, while Bell played superb defense, he was pretty dreadful offensively.

- Since going off against Pacific, Kyle Wiltjer is 8-26 from the floor and capped it off with a woeful 2-11 from the field tonight.   He looked completely out of sorts tonight.

- Huge kudos to BYU.  They had their backs to the wall and came out gunning.  Kyle Collinsworth is a complete stud and put the Cougars on his back down the stretch.

I'm not one for saying losses are a good thing for a team. But at this point, that's what we have to cling to.  More tomorrow.
