(KUTV) Kalani Sitake was a BYU football fan before he played for the team and of course is now its head coach.
He believes his previous experiences with BYU football will help him as coach.
"It connects with the players, it connects with recruits and it also connects with fans," he said.
Sitake has been a BYU football fan since he was young.
"I was that ten year old that was yelling at the TV screen, at the coaches," he said. "So I get what the fans are going through."
Sitake knows how important the fans are for the team, and that it is the job of the team and the coaches to make the fans cheer.
"Just really appreciate the fact that they're in there, cheering us on or they're watching us on TV," Sitake said. "We understand as a coaching staff and as a football team that our job is to get them to be in unison and to rise and shout."
