It was all-star weekend for a bevy of college football stars looking to impress NFL scouts at the East-West Shrine Game in Florida and the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in California.

Former local standouts were no different. Here’s how they did.

East-West Shrine Game

Joe Williams ran for 51 yards on seven carries to lead the West team, but got 35 of the yards as he trucked a defender into the red zone at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.

He also caught two passes for 7 yards and returned a kickoff 16 yards for the West, which beat the East 10-3.

Utah offensive lineman Sam Tevi and defensive end Hunter Dimick were also named to the West roster, as was former Utah defensive tackle Stevie Tu’ikolovatu, who finished his college career at Southern California.

Tevi played more than 30 snaps and also saw time at long snapper for the West, and Dimick did not play after suffering a knee injury in practice.

NFLPA Collegiate Bowl

Meanwhile, in a mostly empty stadium in Carson, California, former BYU teammates Kai Nacua, Andrew Eide and Algie Brown reunited for one more time before the NFL draft.

Nacua made four tackles and saw time on punt duty, and Eide started the game at left tackle while sporting helmet decals from both of his graduating institutions, BYU and Southern Utah.

But it may have been Weber State’s Tre’Von Johnson who stole the show for the American team, with six tackles, a tackle for loss and a QB hurry in the National team’s 27-7 win over the American team.

Southern Utah cornerback Josh Thornton hauled in an interception off East Carolina signal caller Philip Nelson.

Utah cornerbacks Brian Allen and Reggie Porter were also named to the Collegiate Bowl rosters, as was Utah State offensive lineman Jake Simonich.

The Reese’s Senior Bowl kicks off next Saturday, Jan. 28, at 12:30 p.m. MST in Mobile, Alabama.
