BYU football’s spring practices begin next week. With the Cougars now being Tanner Mangum‘s team, let’s relive his three best games.

Tanner Mangum is now the leader of BYU football. With spring practice starting on Monday, what better way to usher in the Mangum era than by revisiting his best games as a Cougar.

Mangum burst onto the scene in 2015, replacing an injured Taysom Hill against Nebraska. Mangum entered the game late, just a few weeks after returning from his LDS mission.

He immediately cemented himself in BYU football lore.

No. 3: At Nebraska, 2015

Mangum: 7-11, 111 yards and one TD; 26 yards rushing

Taysom Hill played into the fourth quarter against the Cornhuskers in Week One of the 2015 season. He was putting together one of the best games of his career, having completed 21-of-34 passes for 268 yards and a touchdown, and adding 72 rushing yards and two scores.

A Lisfranc injury sidelined him late, and Tanner Mangum came in.

With 48 seconds remaining, Mangum and the offense took over at their own 24-yard line. Mangum drove to the Nebraska 42-yard line. With one second left, Mangum rolled right and slung a pass downfield to Mitch Mathews. It was Nebraska’s first home-opener loss in 30 years.
