Collin Chandler Decommits From BYU, Commits to Kentucky

IG: collinxchandler

Following Mark Pope’s departure to Kentucky, 2022 signee Collin Chandler decommitted from BYU, sources tell me. Collin is the highest-rated recruit in program history in the ratings era, according to 247 Sports. He returns home from his mission in London May 2.

Collin committed to BYU in large part to play for Mark Pope at BYU in the Big 12. Collin was committed to BYU and Pope during his mission, but Pope leaving to Kentucky caused him to reconsider his college plans.

Collin undoubtedly would have been a huge coup for BYU and is blow for BYU’s future plans. Collin is an uber-talented combo guard who can finish above the rim, knock down threes off the dribble or off the catch, create his own shot, and distribute the basketball.

BYU has already lost Dallin Hall, Richie Saunders, and Aly Khalifa to the transfer portal, and Collin is another casualty on top of that. The new coaching staff will work right away to bring some of those guys back as a couple of them are considering returning to BYU.
