The LDS church provides a service with value and they do so on their terms. There is more than enough market that they can stipulate their terms. If you don't like the terms, then don't partake of the service. If somebody offered Mercedes Benz lease programs for just $600/year, that would be a great deal. Now if it required that you were accepted into the program and that you wear a purple shirt with a rainbow over the pocket anytime you were driving it, I might not be so inclined to participate. But if you sign up, wear the friggin shirt. If you don't want to wear the shirt, don't sign up. It seems pretty straight forward to me.
