Then that kid needs to be somewhere other than BYU. Part of going to BYU is

going to Church. It would be like you get a job at a call center, but then decide that you don't want to talk on the phone for a few weeks. The call center is going to fire you.
When you ask for the privilege of going to BYU you agree to attend Church.
