The PAC 12 is not going after the Mormon population. They went after Utah as they fit in nearly every way, into the PAC 12. BYU is a religious institution and as a result does not fit - in their minds.

They have zero schools owned by religion. They likely never will. It isn't a Mormon thing. They aren't again the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They also won't invite Baylor (the main reason the Texas invite didn't work - they were trying to force Baylor in), or TCU, or Notre Dame.

They want open minded educational institutions that "explore every possibility without incumberance or institutional influence".

I guess they are trying to ruin CSU as well? Airforce? and any other program that resides in the state of Colorado? Are they also after Utah State? They were the gem of Utah this past season.

Utah is one fo the few semi major markets that has media growth. Utah is and has been growing by far more than other states. Utah was invited for may reasons, none of which had anything to do with BYU.

Utah decided to take a break from the rivlary - which is starting back up in 2016 by the way. The PAC had ZERO to do with that. Larry Scott very probably likes BYU.
