You may be missing the point. You're training may help you to analyze the
various individual aspects of a film, but it is profoundly naive to think that training enables you to unilaterally "declare" which films are "good". That's the beauty of art, we all form our own opinions.

A lot depends on your "expectation" or "purpose" in viewing the film. One person might be looking for a light-hearted break from reality. In his case, "The Three Amigos" might be the greatest film ever made. Another person might be looking to ponder the intersection of perspectives between the physical and psychological, in which case "Inception" might actually be a good fit. Some aficionados may choose to calculate a composite score that systematically evaluates the individual aspects of cinematography, writing, editing, etc. That may be a very useful approach, but there are some movies that are horribly made (from that perspective), that can be profound in other ways.

Let's not get so enamored of our training that we forget the big picture. Individual perspective matters. Don't get so locked into one perspective that you can't appreciate an alternative perspective.
