Slice up a sweet onion and put in a skillet with the brats. Sprinkle with a good pork rub then cover half way up the brats with apple cider (we don't do beer at our house). Put the skillet on the smoker for 45 min to an hour. Turn the brats occasionally. Then take the onions out and saute them in butter while you throw the brats onto a hot grill to crisp the outsides. Lightly toast the buns and serve with spicy mustard. Yum.
