Dream Theater summary: Virtuosity with absolutely no song-writing capabilities.
The Ramones, with three chords, had more song-smithing ability in one finger than DT has in its whole pretentious body.
My son loves DT and I consider myself a fairly eclectic audiophile, but when he busts that stuff out I have to exit the room/car. It's literally the most over-wrought music I have ever heard. I understand the technical accomplishment that it may represent, but it has no other redeeming qualities. It's virtuosity for virtuosity's sake.
