As an apathetic BYU "follower" I can understand the infatuation with Heaps.
The guy was billed as the "Heir Apparent" to all the great BYU QB's before him, ranked as the #1 QB in his class, and everyone expected greatness. Not living up to his potential not only hurt him financially in the future, but he let down an entire fanbase that was expecting him to bring back the glory days.

I can only imagine what my fan base would have done to Eli Manning if he didn't live up to his expectations. We'd still be talking about it 12 years later. I wouldn't doubt it if Heaps is still being "discussed" 10 years from now here.
