I posted this elsewhere and nobody touched it, maybe someone here will.
I have a related question for Cougar fans. And I'm sure I'll get blasted for asking this but I'm sincerely curious.

It seems to me that most fans on CB defend Indy as the best option outside of a P5 conference invite. So no going back to the MWC, I'm assuming, although I may be wrong, that most fans would also say no to an invite to any of the other non-P5 conferences. And I get that there are positives about being Indy, most of them being financial or access for out of state fans.

My question is, given the change in rules coming with the CFB playoffs, specifically that the "best of the rest" (highest ranked conf. champ from one of the non-P5 leagues) gets an auto bid to a "championship bowl" or "New Years Day Bowl" or whatever they call them (basically the second tier of bowl games down from the playoffs). Would your feelings about Indy change if for example this season BYU beats Boise, however, Boise ends up as the highest ranked non-P5 conference champ and ends up in one of those "New Years Day bowls"? Especially if Boise or whoever ends up with the same number of loses or even one or two more than BYU.

And this may seem like a ridiculous scenario but I'm not so sure that it is. In 2014 BYU plays Utah St., Boise, Houston, and UCF. I wouldn't be surprised to see either the AAC or MWC champ come out of that group (maybe both) and I wouldn't be shocked if the AAC or MWC champ ended up being the highest ranked champ of the non-P5 conferences. I feel like the MWC and AAC are a step above the MAC, Conf-USA, and Sun Belt.
