If you think Embiid really can be a great center, then you can't really keep Kanter around to serve as the 3rd big man and pay him $12 million+ a year. It's not really a matter of choosing Hayward over Kanter, rather you're taking the best available player and then trying to deal from a position of surplus to fill needs.

If they really did end up in position to draft Embiid, I'd actually love to see them package Kanter AND Hayward for an elite wing. Problem is, I don't really anyone who fits that description being available right now.

That's why the Jazz just really need to get a good pick in the lottery and end up with Parker or Wiggins.
