So, my ward has a Facebook page... I know, I know, according to the handbook they probably shouldn't. However, there's always stuff going on there - people trying to get rid of zucchinis, looking for babysitters, classified ads, invites to events, etc.
I wanted to find a way to involve everyone in the neighborhood without it being too "mormon-y". So, I heard of this app the other day called "Nextdoor".
On Nextdoor's Website
"People are using Nextdoor to:
- Quickly get the word out about a break-in
- Organize a Neighborhood Watch Group
- Track down a trustworthy babysitter
- Find out who does the best paint job in town
- Ask for help keeping an eye out for a lost dog
- Find a new home for an outgrown bike
- Finally call that nice man down the street by his first name
- Nextdoor’s mission is to use the power of technology to build stronger and safer neighborhoods."
It's pretty sweet so far... but what's cooler, is that you and I can both get a $25 amazon referral bonus if you join via nextdoor.com/amazon/?r=udnqyu and set up a new neighborhood with 10 or more joined people.
I wouldn't post this if it was just for me, but since it'd be for both of us, I figured "why not"?
