Aside from BYU, everyone in the league wants to be Gonzaga, but nobody is willing to make the commitment necessary to be a top-25/30 program.

It’s not as simple as hiring a good coach and putting him to work with the same old resources.

Consider the budgets:

Gonzaga spends $5.9 million on men’s basketball, according to data provided by the Dept. of Education through the Equity In Athletics Disclosure Act.

That’s more than twice as much as Saint Mary’s ($2.8 million), Portland ($2.5 million), San Diego ($2.3 million) and Santa Clara ($2.2 million)."
