"BYU was late" is a bit of an exaggeration by CBers sometimes. A little blown out of proportion. Occasionally yes, but it may not always be as bad as it seems. Plus, late or not may not even matter with some of these guys. BYU offers a lot of the same guys as Utah, so that makes it more difficult. And Utah tends to land a lot of guys from the SLC area, where a lot of them happen to be (not specifically this year, just in general).
But they've missed in the past for sure. OG LDS commit to Oregon State last year was a good prospect with a bunch of good offers and we didn't even offer. Then we got to the Bailey kid late as well. But I'm not sure being "late" is the problem with some guys this year. It's really not late compared to others.
But I've heard we have good chances with at least two of the big names. Landing one big name and one of the others this class, I think that's ok. Then land another 2 or 3 good ones next class. They're working on it.
