My sports wish list for the next 12 months...
As always, I have to be realistic but here goes...

1) BYU offense gets back on track. By that I mean, the offensive line is improved, we use our TEs more in the passing game and the blue zone offense improves dramatically. I think if the offense can get into groove this season, BYU should win 10 or more games. My other college football wish is that no SEC teams wins the championship and especially not Alabama. Along with the SEC, I do not want to see Ohio State win it either. I'm pretty much open to anyone else (well besides Utah but I said I was being realistic).

2) BYU basketball starts playing (better) defense again and begins to shoot the 3 ball with more accuracy. BYU will never be elite but these two things definitely need to improve for BYU to ever be better than a one and done in the NCAAs. I expect Haws to have a good year and hope that KC is healthy and I hope the team gels (I am beginning to think Carlino was more of problem than I previously believed). I am generally happy if BYU can win one game in the NCAA tournament (not including the play-in game).

3) Jimmer getting playing time and having some big games. I doubt Jimmer will ever be a starter in the NBA but there is no reason he couldn't come off the bench and have score some points. NBA teams seem scared to give Jimmer much of a chance but I still think the jury is still out on him. There are plenty of players that don't play defense and still get a ton of time on the court. The fact that the Bulls wouldn't even give him a chance when they were struggling offensively in the playoffs was extremely questionable. Jimmer is a guy that can come off the bench and give your team a huge lift.

4) I don't really follow the NFL that much although it is the only pro sport that I really somewhat pay attention to. I am in no way a Broncos fan but I like Manning so I could pull for those guys. My wish list is for the Super Bowl (whoever is playing) to go into overtime. That would be fun. Well, that and better commercials - seems like they've been a little disappointing the last few years.

5) As far as the NBA is concerned, I am a little tired of the Spurs and sick of hearing about Labron James. No doubt James is a great player but I am just a little tired of the Labron show. I would like an NBA finals that has some new blood. Two teams that haven't been there recently or ever ... say that Clippers and Knicks.

6) NHL.... um, they should make the hockey puck florescent yellow and mike up a few of the players and then I may watch a game otherwise, don't care whatsoever.

7) MLS... while I like the World Cup, our professional soccer league just isn't that good. Sure, it's improving but it's still not something I would go out of my way to watch. Maybe my wish will be for them to put a team in Vegas (which I have heard they are considering). I live in Vegas so that would give us at least one professional team and something to do in the dreary, hot summers here.

8) Baseball... I used to be a huge baseball fan growing up but partly that's because Dale Murphy was in my ward in Georgia. Back then they were huge BYU fans. Anyway, since the steroid and free-agency thing, all I seem to care about is the Yankees and, more recently, the Red Sox losing. I was in Boston on business last October and couldn't really go downtown because the stupid Red Sox had just won the series. Just like the NBA, I would like to see two different teams playing in the series. I might even root for the Dodgers just because it's been so long.

9) I hope that Pestorius dude from the Olympics/Par-Oympics gets his. In some ways, I feel bad for him for what he's had to endure however there's no excuse for killing your girlfriend (likely out of jealousy). I find it very hard to believe it was done in self-defense. If there was an intruder in my house, the first person I would protect would be my wife. Plus, what thief is going to break into your house and hide in your bathroom? Wouldn't he just get the hades out of there and choose the easiest escape route possible? I could go on but to me it's extremely obvious he's guilty of just being an idiot with a bad temper who did something really selfish and stupid.
