So if the crazies got their way & BYU went back, here's what we'd have in 2014:
First, San Jose State? You are the weakest link. Goodbye.

MW West
#53 Boise State
#65 Nevada
#68 Fresno State
#87 San Diego State
#95 UNLV
#101 Hawaii

MW Mountain
#31 BYU
#76 Utah State
#78 Colorado State
#104 Air Force
#105 Wyoming
#109 New Mexico

What would this mean for BYU's schedule? Let's say OOC sticks with only P5 schools as that would be the focus moving forward: trying to get as many P5 schools as possible in our OOC slate. So this would mean:

#25 Texas
#61 Virginia
#63 California
#93 Connecticut

Next, we'd have to play our Mountain Division foes:

#76 Utah State
#78 Colorado State
#104 Air Force
#105 Wyoming
#109 New Mexico

And finally, for ease of comparison, we'll keep the three cross division opponents consistent with who we will face this year:

#53 Boise State
#65 Nevada
#95 UNLV

Which would give us a final schedule of:

#25 Texas
#53 Boise State
#61 Virginia
#63 California
#65 Nevada
#76 Utah State

#78 Colorado State
#93 Connecticut
#95 UNLV

#104 Air Force
#105 Wyoming
#109 New Mexico

The top half of the schedule is already on our 2014 independent schedule. FCS Savannah St. steps in for #109 New Mexico and #107 MTSU steps in for #105 Wyoming. Where the indy schedule wins out is in the fact that we get #34 Houston in the place of #78 Colorado State and #48 UCF in the place of #104 Air Force. And with how the schedules are looking moving forward, this will prove to be a noticeable "dip year" in terms of SOS and P5 presence.

Yes, the MW gives us a shot at one of the New Year's Six bowls, but that is the highest any MW team will ever be able to reach. Schedule right--and WIN--and the committee will have to give BYU access. More PR wins similar to the U of A VP indicating that they view BYU as a P5 opponent and suddenly BYU has access to the New Year's Six and the Playoff, if they win.
