The difference is Jimmer ranked 82nd out of 82 PGs in the league
in defensive Real Plus/Minus compared to Thomas ranking 45th. Fredette's defensive PER was 18.7 compared to Thomas's defensive PER being 15.5. Some of that could be explained due to him being in a bad situation, but the numbers do scream in support of all the criticism he's received for his defense.
