I live in Alabama but was recently in Utah to visit my wife's brother before he entered the MTC.

He's not a huge sports fan but does claim to root for BYU. He's a pretty good, honest kid.

I wanted to get his perspective on high school students in Utah and their allegiance to Utah or BYU. Especially since from the outside it seems like it's the "cool, hip, trendy"
thing to root for Utah.

He attended Timpview and said it was probably 80% to 20% in favor of BYU at his school (I realize that his school is closer to BYU than Utah). This was just one kid's opinion so please no freaking out if he is way off - he didn't claim to know this for a fact, he was just trying to estimate in order to answer my question.

I really know nothing about which schools/areas in Utah pull for BYU or Utah. I would assume that schools around BYU pull for BYU and schools around Utah pull for Utah.

But I have been told on this board before that I would be shocked by how many BYU fans there are in SLC. Anyway, I'm just curious, which high schools lean which way in the state? Or are the majority (that are not right around one campus or the other) almost evenly split?
