Even if he's right, Step 1 is fewer taxes on us poor, not more taxes on the rich
Why aren't liberals ("progressives") pushing for the elimination of payroll taxes on the first $20k of income?

If you really want to help us poor people, then don't tax the rich more and eventually send some of the revenue to me after you've squeezed it through the federal bureaucracy and taken your chunk off the top. Just drop the Social Security tax, the Medicare tax, etc... from the first $20k of my paychecks!

And don't assess income tax on that first $20k, while you're at it!

After you've taken care of that task, THEN we can talk about raising taxes on the rich.
