I have an internal battle every time someone tells me "I'm going to law school!"
I generally ask where they plan to go, and what kind of law they want to do. Those are the only questions I can muster without being outwardly condescending.

They more often than not say some 3rd tier school in California or New York because of that schools "stellar writing program" (We both know it's because they couldn't get into Utah or BYU), and that they want to go into "international law" or "entertainment law" or some other obscure, undefined practice to which they have no connections to break through, and I just have to mentally face-palm and wish them luck.

And even if they end up getting accepted to Utah or BYU, I still usually roll my eyes at their poor decision making.
