He's normally as self absorbed as anyone you will meet
Last night, however, he suffering for everyone else as much as he was for himself.
A third car was involved in the accident as well. A wheel detached from the other driver's truck and landed on the windshield of another car.
I'm still amazed that there were 3 cars in that intersection at midnight. I've driven through that same intersection over the past 15 years or so hundreds of times at night and there is usually no traffic there.

My son stayed with the driver of the truck until she was driven away in the ambulance and tried to comfort her.
After she was gone, he turned his attention to the driver of the car with the smash windshield.

I've never seen him so remorseful.
He's made a lot of dumb mistakes in his life already, but this is one of the few times I've ever seen him seem accept full responsibility and show remorse.

As bad as it was, I was still proud of him.

Now I just need to figure out how to get him to/from work. I work in the same building, but the hours don't line up with my normal hours.
