I am so proud of my wife...
My wife is amazing. Those of you who know our story will know that she was originally from Canada. Her parents divorced when she was a little girl, and the sum up of that story is that her mom took her and her brothers down here to Utah, cutting them off from all contact with her dad. By age 12, her mom all but left the church, and her older brothers stopped going as well, so for her entire adolescent life she was the sole active member in the church from her family, with only her ward to support her.

We met in 2007, married in 2008, and shortly thereafter began to tackle the issue that her mother had concealed from until her senior year of high school: she never finished the legal process to allow her or her children to live here permanently. In short, my wife was an illegal alien. This prevented her from attending college in the United States.

We pulled through it, and I'm happy to say that she received her green card in 2012 thanks to a string of tender mercies and miracles. This allowed her to pursue her dream of attending college. She was accepted to Utah State (where we currently live). Since we have two boys, and I'm a full time employee/full time student, she has taken her classes online... not the easiest thing to do for a stay at home mom.

Well, not only has she tackled the extra responsibility, she is currently a 3.8 student. She got a 4.0 last semester, and is on track to repeat that feat this summer.

I made the suggestion to her about a month ago that she might be able to get accepted to Brigham Young University. Utah County is where our hearts long to be, since that is where she grew up most of her life, it's where we met, got married, and had our first child. The notion of being able to go back would be huge. (Side note: my grades are not good enough to get into BYU, but that's okay, I'm averaging around a 3.0 and am fine with attending either USU or UVU until I'm done.)

Tonight, she completed her application. Met with the Stake President, had an inspiring and tender interview with him, and he counseled her that she should share her story, and all that she has been able to accomplish. Being a shy person, this will not be an easy thing for her to do: but I have CougarBoard, so I can brag about her awesomeness here.

My fellow Cougarboarders, I have an amazing wife. She is beautiful physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I am so proud of the fact that she has a legitimate shot at attending a university that we both love for more than just football. She intends on getting a degree in Family Studies, something that she has discovered a passion for while attending USU.

Any and all positive thoughts and prayers on her/our behalf as we await BYU's decision on her application are appreciated. Thanks all, and GO COUGARS!
