The states I've lived in might have a day in the calendar, but
it's not celebrated with even a fraction of the gusto with which Utahns display on pioneer day.

My disregarding attitude toward pioneer day is mostly framed by two experiences I had where some Utahns ( outside of Utah) started talking about theirplains for pioneer day. On both occasions someone interrupted and asked what the heck pioneer day was. It was funny because the Utahns looked at the people asking the question and asked how do you not know what pioneer day is? That made up my mind that pioneer day is silly and that those two Utahns on those separate occasions were condescending bubble dwellers.
