trying to grease the wheels to get LaVell to retire so that he could take over. We basically lost our stranglehold in Hawaii his final yrs which was his territory. We were not getting any recruits from there, and the utes were cleaning up. Just my opinion but that was the feeling I had at the time, and I wasn't alone with that opinion.
