winning big will help drive a different culture at BYU...
...the speed of the leader determines the rate of the pack. Bronco has sort of built a culture that is okay with beating mediocre teams, getting to a bowl game and it's great if we finish in the top 25, we work hard in the 1st half to get a comfortable lead and then we ease back on the throttle in the 3rd quarter and let the defense close out the game.

We get off to slow starts to begin the season (Bronco has started 5 of his 9 seasons going 1-2 out of the gate and is a couple lucky breaks away from being 7 of 9 seasons starting 1-2), he has softened his approach in recent years and has reduced the number of practices in pads during the fall, given the team time off to go play at a waterpark and slacked off squandering extra practice time during bye weeks leading up to big games (see Utah game last year or bowl practices in December).

The entire culture has been one of easing up and not pushing hard all the way through to the finish line. Our offensive philosophy has been to go fast go hard but overall as a program that's not been the case. It's more like it's been "Don't worry, be happy" (sound of Bobby Ferrin, steel drums, lilting sound of waves splashing, wind rustling through palm leaves etc in the background)
