I thought of this as a note on a whiteboard got strung out. It started off simply as "Dawn" with her phone number written below (why it has stayed up for so long I have no idea), but someone added "of the Dead" and then someone else added "liest Catch" to which some one else added "Me If You Can". On the other end, someone added "Red" before the Dawn and someone else added "Lady in" before that. And someone preceded that with "Dude Looks like a". So, from "Dawn", we currently have Dude Looks Like a Lady In Red Dawn of the Deadliest Catch Me If You Can.
I'm calling the game Strung Out. You can call it whatever you want. Feel free to make up rules as you feel appropriate but I think a contest between two teams to terminate a string (in either direction) - i.e. the other team cannot add to it should count for a point with a bonus point if you terminate both directions. I would limit the pool from which additions can be made to Entertainments (Movies, Books, Songs, TV Shows), so for example you wouldn't be able to continue the string above with Can-adian Bacon. You would have to either have a list of starter words or take turns placing the starter word (other team gets to add to it first though). You could even allow points if the team cannot continue a string and the other team can. Feel free to run with it. If you like parlor games, I thought this might be something you could try out.
And if this is not an original idea, it won't be the first time I thought of something that already existed.
