I would bet that some Utah fans are quietly missing the MWC. They were one of the top dogs in the MWC but now in the PAC12 they are 2nd class citizens. Their 2004 and 2008 seasons in the MWC were the best time for their fan base but will never happen again in the PAC12. Their nostalgia for their short lived success was in the MWC. During that time they made it into the BCS and received national recognition all while being in the MWC. So was it better to be a big fish in a little pond (MWC) then a guppy in a big lake (PAC12)?
With our move to independence and the WCC we haven't changed our program status much....it's kind of a wash at this moment. We still optimistically look for 10+ win seasons while Utah hopes for 6 wins and a bowl. Would BYU risk the same decline by moving into the Big12 or PAC12? Or does the prestige of a P5 conference outweigh the perpetual insignificance you face every year?
