Saw "Son of God" last night. Not a particularly good movie.
It's really hard to make a good movie about Jesus. I think the makers of this movie were definitely well intentioned, and I know they're true believers in Christ; they just didn't do a very good job. It's hardly worth a redbox rental. I do like the actor who plays Jesus. That's one redeeming feature. But even his performance wasn't enough to salvage the film. The pacing was horrible as was the directing. The chronological order of events was all messed up and they changed some of the quotations from the Bible.
It just felt very rushed. It was like a Cliffs notes version of Jesus' life. You didn't really get to know any of the characters very well. It was a bland movie and didn't really inspire me. The movie didn't even touch Mel Gibson's Passion, or King of Kings for example. It wasn't even as good as the Bible videos that the church has been making and posting on LDS.org. This one's definitely ok to skip.
