I get there are many factors at play. Geography, religion are perhaps the two biggest hurting BYU but if BYU was a massive TV draw then the school would be able to negotiate its own terms and walk into the Big 12 or PAC 12 at any point.

Every time I've seen the TV ratings they appear solid but nothing spectacular like we've heard for years. It seems that BYU is probably comparable to a Washington, Cal, Texas Tech, Michigan State perhaps but not even sniffing the USC's, Bama's, FSU's, Ohio States, ND's etc... Probably a top 30-60 TV rating. Seems that conferences are trying to court teams with either great ratings or great TV markets with potential IE Rutgers, Maryland.
