I had a medical emergency on a cruise one time and spent the night in a mexican

hospital. The cruise ship checked us out and delivered all of our luggage to the hospital before they left. The next day I was released and we made it to an airport and flew to catch up with the ship.

When we got there we showed them our ID (which had been disabled) and they escorted us to the purser's desk where they checked us back in.

In the Mediterranean we only were asked for our passports at one port-of-call
