When I get asked what I make now, I just respond with questions about how their bonus structure works so that I truly understand what compensation I will receive from the potential employer. Then I say that I would consider the position if the salary were X, with expected bonus of Y, and let them tell me if that is within their band. I don't give my salary ever. However, if I was in the onboarding process and the company has a policy of getting prior salary info and I was taking the job anyway, it wouldn't matter to me if they wanted to see my paystubs, as long as they weren't going to reduce their offered salary after that.
