and where they may go in the future.

One thing is for certain, it changes the dynamic when you verbalize it. You will likely not be blindsiding them (they're in this negotiation business and have anticipated just about everything you think you can throw at them). So what do you gain by verbalizing something they are already aware you have in your toolbox? Little, other than it shows them the earnest money and time investment thus far is worth less to you than it was yesterday.

It all comes down to your alternative to a negotiated agreement and what type of relationship you want leading up to August 21st and thereafter.
