There are different levels of "swearing"
Dropping F-bombs and taking the Lord's name is one end of the spectrum that doesn't happen that often at BYU.
Other colorful language that is used at BYU may not necessarily be that offensive outside of BYU. Occasionally you may come across a player's father that does get offended by that language though.
