I assume with sling box you need to put the box at someone else's house who has access to all the channels etc? With Tablo you just keep it all in house, just an at home dvr with tv listings provided for setting future recordings, etc. It has a wi-fi option so it doesn't need to be connected to your tv though (can run through roku, appletv, chromecast, etc). I think form there you can access the programming on your tablet on the go etc similar to a sling box.
