Gratitude for whom? The bowl execs that work one week out of the year,
yet have salaries in the upper 6 figures? For the coaches who break rules right and left and continue to earn massive pay increases, some approaching $5-6 million per year. I'm sorry, but I think we've moved passed the point of being grateful to those noble people who bring us college football every year. I understand that some programs operate in the red. This is why the current system, as is, will die. It can't sustain itself. Once the courts rule on the O'Bannon case and others, a new system will have to be implemented. The new system may be a clean break from university affiliation altogether. If that means having a fair and ethical sport, then I'm all for it. It will suck to see BYU football die, but I'll sleep better at night knowing that a few dozen people are making millions by scamming off of the hard work of kids who aren't properly compensated.
