we didn't want to end up looking like TCU, boise state and SDSU going to the
big east.
texas and oklahoma were still in play and if they left, the big 12 wouldn't be a P5 conference. as it is, they're hanging on by their fingernails.
at one time there was a lot of talk about texas going independent.
