Watching those idiots try to tear down our goalposts after the '93 loss was absolutely sickening. Conversely, it was awesome to see some of our players swinging their helmets to keep Yewt fans from getting to the NEZ goalposts (I believe Chad Lewis was one of those protecting -- he was a freshman that year). Little did we know that loss to the Yew at home in '93 was the end of 20 years of complete and utter football domination.
The '80 Miracle Bowl remains the greatest live sporting moment I have ever witnessed in person, and I was only a kid. Still gives me goosebumps to watch the replay. The sequence of events leading up to that play in the last 4 minutes may never be replicated in CFB history. It was an absolutely jaw-dropping achievement to come back from a 20-point deficit at that stage of the game in just a couple of minutes based upon the way that we had been absolutely dominated up to that point. And then to win it on a hail-mary like that . . .
Also attended '83 Missouri, '84 Michigan, 4th & 18 in '07, and "By George" in '09 in person. All good, but Miracle Bowl still tops the list. Missouri '83 is probably second, and 4th & 18 third as far as "moments." 1984 Michigan was an amazing experience because of the ultimate achievement, and to beat UM with a 1-legged QB was very satisfying.
GO COUGS.
