Worst: The Penn State Holiday Bowl when Detmer was in PSU territory with less
than a minute left, about to score the game winning TD in an amazing 4th quarter comeback win... until he was stripped, and PSU returned the strip for a TD. That was 1989, so I was 7. I remember crying myself to sleep that night.

Honorable mention, even though we were at home instead of at the game, goes to the non-PI call late in the 3rd against K-State in the Cotton Bowl. It was the second blatant PI that wasn't called, almost in a row. My Mom screamed at the TV, started pounding on the floor, then sat on the fireplace mantle and started to cry. I was 13 and, as mad as I was at the non-PI, I was even more stunned at my Mother's reaction.

The worst in retrospect was the Davies announcement. I was on cloud nine after that SDSU win on CBS. I didn't even know about it until I came home... my wife opened the door, gave me a hug, and said, "I'm so sorry". I had no idea what she was talking about... even after finding out, I still thought Jimmer might have enough to get us to the Elite 8, and he almost did. In retrospect, the Davies announcement was the single biggest 'what could have been' moment for BYU sports.

Best: In-person was 2001 Utah. Pandemonium. People were falling down the bleachers all around us. The stadium was shaking. I've seen some mentions of "4th-and-18", "Harline is still open", and 2009 was really fun too... but the fact is, as amazingly fun as they were, the outcomes of those games had little impact on our national prominence. In 2001, we were undefeated, still very much alive for a BCS bowl.

Honorable Mention: 1996 TAMU game - We were on a family road trip, the original plan was to pull up to the house an hour before kickoff to watch the game. Instead we had an electrical fire in our car, which was a pretty traumatic experience, and caused a half-day delay. So we listened to Paul James all the way home... and it was AMAZING, mostly because everyone was so emotionally spent because of the car fire. Our family sitting in the car hanging on Paul James' every word and celebrating TDs with wild abandon. I have no doubt we had more fun, as a family, listening to the game on the radio than we would have if we watched the game on TV.
