Florida State is a lesser basketball school since it is in the same conference as Duke, North Carolina and NC State. FSU was 9-9 last year in the ACC while Clemson was 10-9, behind Virginia, Syracuse, Duke, NC and Pitt.

Florida is a better basketball program, but it's main rivals are Kentucky and Georgia. Worrying about Florida State, a game they play in November, is not going to get Florida into the tourney nor win its conference title. They played Kentucky 3 times last year to win the SEC. Losing to FSU would have meant little to Florida, just like Utah beating up on BYU in December meant little for BYU's season come March.
