The P5 conferences want ALL the proceeds from the system. They carved out one spot for the G5 conferences, of which BYU does not belong, for the New Year's Bowls. That spot exists to discourage legal action. Of note, the G5 conferences signed off on the deal because of that slot.

The mentality of the P5's will be that that one single spot is all the non-P5's will be given access to.

Why?

Because they can.
