Etiquette question: if a pitcher is one batter away from a no-hitter
(or even more so with a perfect game), is the last batter inclined to whiff on purpose to let the pitcher take home the glory, or is he all-the-more motivated to squash that feat?
Assume the batter's team is in no way able to score enough runs to win hanging on just one out left in the game.
