The issue is the level of employees you get at that distribution level...
often the force is 50% temp so you can quickly flex with retail demands. You can train and coach but next week half your workforce turns over. They makes $10/hr and aren't often motivated to become the best among their peers.

To make improvement we are increasing comp and giving up some of our ramp up/down flexibility. In exchange we are demanding higher caliber employees, who undergo more rigorous vetting, and need to meet certain productivity and quality metrics.

It is a relatively new implementation but quality and distribution improvements should pay for our cost increases. Early returns are positive and hopefully some of the crap, like wrong pads in the box, will be reduced.
