Statistically speaking, he is an anomolly
Statistics show conclusively that the degree you earn has a large bearing on your salary and yes, humanities degrees like history sit at the bottom of the pile.
It is fortunate that your brother is doing well but we do our kids a huge disservice if we ignore the earning potential of one degree relative to another. Certainly we should consider more than money when choosing a major, but money should still be considered- especially in light of the massive debt students are taking on to earn that degree. An MD or JD may be worth $150,000 in debt. A bachelors in Social Work is not.
