BYU would fail to accomplish its main goal
Everyone assumes that BYU must abandon what it stands for in order to become a powerhouse in the football landscape, but that is the whole purpose of BYU football...to accomplish greatness by standards not by conforming. If we win another national championship and still adhere to our standards and being unique, it will be the story of the year in sports. It will bring unprecedented coverage and attention to BYU and by association the missionary effort.

And for those of you that do not think that is possible there is probably no convincing you. However, there is historical evidence, if you believe in the predominate religion at BYU, that ultimately living right will end in the desired results. The church is evidence, the Stripling Warriors are evidence, and who knows, should Mitt Romney decide to run again, maybe we will see evidence of that in politics. The main point is that you do not succumb to the general public opinion to try to accomplish your goals, you stick to your beliefs and let those beliefs and effort determine the result.
